Hunt 'Em Down & Book 'Em Up
This is a bonding at home activity to make the best of a any or rainy afternoon.
For Grades Pre-K and up
The materials needed:
paper
pencil
crayons/colored pencils
3 hole puncher
arms length of ribbon
in house favorite items!
1. Have your child go around the house and choose 5-10 of their favorites. (toys, blankets, rooms... in the house).
2. Then have your child write a sentence or more explaining why they chose it and draw and color a picture, each on a separate piece of paper.
3. Once completed, hole punch each paper.
4. Use ribbon and tie a knot to complete the book!
5. Lastly, have your child pick a location in the home to keep the book.
To assist your younger children, you can have them verbally share their reason with you and you can scribe the reasons.
Encouraging words you as a parent can say to your child throughout the activity and creating the storybook; you're special, remarkable work, that's incredible...
So go on, try it out!

ReplyDeleteI am always amazed st what my child finds "important". I think it is a great idea to have them record why they picked an item. For my youngest, I think I will enjoy his answers and seeing what he loves. Obviously, I will have to write his answers for him.
